What a wonderful week its been. Las Vegas was fabulous. Its funny, I wasnt really looking forward to going since I had a lot of work to do and not much of a bankroll to work with. But I had an extremely relaxing time (logged major pool hours), lots of sun (the raccoon eyes are back), and finished up $370. My card counting skills have improved so much. Too bad I dont have the bankroll I used to. On one hand my winning could be five times as much. On the other, Id probably attract too much attention from the pit crew and would be asked to leave more casinos. After Vegas I went to Los Angeles for a Sony party. It was pretty interesting. There were lots of celebrities around. Here are the ones I can remember: Hugh Hefner, Tara Reid, Jaime Pressley, Courtney Cox, David Arquette, David Spade, Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and Crispin Glover. There were plenty more, but I wasnt really paying attention. Celeb watching, while amusing to an extent, doesnt really interest me. The after-party was more fun. It was far more laid back, and more my style. Tara Reid couldnt get in and she threw an enormous fit outside the hotel (the St. Regis in LA--I love that place). Shes not nearly as curvy as she looks in the movies, but her use of profanity is almost artistic. The best part of LA was that I got to see three of my favorite (real) women in the universe. Actually, that was probably my favorite part of the week. And now Im home againand I cant wait to leave. Its not that there are so many places Id rather be; it just seems like Id prefer to be anywhere but here. So much of my heart stays in New York and Los Angeles, and to a lesser extent Las Vegas. I have no idea what the hell Tony Bennett was singing about in, I Left my Heart in San Francisco. Im not certain it was ever here.
